Combine the rice and 3 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, lower heat to a simmer, cover and cook undisturbed for 20 minutes. Check for doneness and add up to 1/4 cup more water and cook a little longer if needed. (I added the water and cooked for 5 minutes more.) When the rice is done, fluff with a fork to separate the grains.
