BUTTERSCOTCH ROLLS

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (150g) self raising flour
  • 1 cup (150g) whole meal self raising flour
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • For the filling:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Milk for glazing

Directions

  1. 1. Set oven at 200 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2. Rub butter into flour using fingertips.
  3. 3. Mix into soft dough with milk.
  4. 4. Turn onto lightly flared board and knead until smooth.
  5. 5. Roll out into an oblong smooth 300cm by 20cm.
  6. 6. For the filling, cream together butter and brown sugar and spread on dough. Roll up as for Swiss roll.
  7. 7. Cut into 12 slices, arrange closely together on even tray.
  8. 8. Glaze with milk.
  9. 9. Place in oven above the centre and bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. 10. Cook on cake cooler. Serve with butter.
