Canary Corn Sticks

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1/2 cup flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 cups corn meal
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup soft shortening

Directions

  1. Beat egg.
  2. Then beat in...
  3. Buttermilk
  4. Soda
  5. Flour
  6. Corn meal
  7. Sugar
  8. Baking powder
  9. Salt
  10. Shortening
  11. Pour or spoon into buttered hot square pan, muffin cups, corn stick pans.
  12. Bake just until set.
  13. Server piping hot with butter.
  14. Cut corn breads (baked in square pan) into squares.
  15. Keep hot in pain until served.
  16. 10 to 15 minutes for corn sticks or muffins;
  17. 20 to 25 minutes for corn bread.
