Caramel Candy Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 package (14 oz) caramel candies
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups quick-cooking or regular oats
  • 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 package (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or dry roasted peanuts

Directions

  1. Heat candies and milk in saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently, until smooth; remove from heat.
  2. Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and egg in large bowl. Sir in margarine with fork until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Press half crumbly mixture in pan. Bake for minutes.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips and walnuts; drizzle with caramel mixture; sprinkle remaining crumbly mixture.
  5. Bake until golden brown (20+ minutes)
