Ingredients
Sharp cheddar cheese – it’s best to buy a block of cheddar cheese and freshly shred it for this recipe. Cheese that you buy already shredded has less moisture and doesn’t work as well when making these sausage balls. Substitute any cheese you prefer.
Ground pork sausage – we used a mild ground sausage, but you can use any flavor you like.
Biscuit baking mix – we used Bisquick, but you can use any similar biscuit mix you like.
Milk – the milk serves to add just enough moisture to allow the mixture to be rolled into balls. Use any milk you like. You may substitute cream cheese if desired.
Dried chives – the chives are optional but add a nice flavor and a little green color.
