Chocolate Caramel Turtles

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. package (54) caramels
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 3/4 lb. salted pecans or cashews
  • 1 (6 oz.) package semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Heat caramel and water on top part of boiler over boiling water for about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir occasionally until evenly blended and melted.
  3. Grease a baking sheet. Arrange 36 groups of about 4 nuts 2 inches apart on the sheet.
  4. Drop melted caramels by teaspoonful on each group of nuts. Let cool for 15 minutes. (Reheat caramel over boiling water if necessary.)
  5. Melt chocolate pieces over hot, NOT BOILING, water. Drop by teaspoon on top of each caramel turtle; spread if necessary.
  6. Let cool until firm.
