  • 2 cups water
  • 1 large tomato
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ to ½ tsp cayenne
  • ⅓ to ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp oil
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • a generous pinch of asafetida(hing) ((gluten-free asafetida can be found on worldspice.com)
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ¼ tsp cayenne
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
