Italian Sausage with Chard

Ingredients

  • 1 TBSP olive oil
  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage links
  • 4-5 cloves garlic cut lengthwise
  • 1 pound Swiss Chard tough stems removed and leaves cut, crosswise into 1/2 inch strips
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp finely grated lemon zest
  • 2 TBSP water
  • Crusty bread

Directions

Heat oil in large skillet over med-high heat. Add sausage links and cook until browned, about 5 minutes per side. Remove to a plate.

Add garlic to skillet and cook for 1 minute. Add chard, crushed pepper flakes, lemon zest, and water. Once wilted a little add sausages back to the skillet. Cover reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until sausages, reach temperature of 160 degrees about 10 minutes. Slice sausages and serve immediately with bread.
