Mom’s Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled, sliced thin
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • Milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F
  2. Cover the bottom with a layer of sliced potatoes
  3. Top with a thin layer of sliced onions
  4. Continue layering almost to the top ofthe casserole
  5. Sprinkle with a few spoons of flour
  6. Season with salt and pepper
  7. Add milk to just below the top of the ingredients
  8. Bake on the top rack in a 375F oven for 1 hour until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  9. Variations: use seasoned salt, add sone grated cheddar cheese before adding butter, add a little rosemary, marjoram or thyme
