Mum's Apple Puffs

Ingredients

  • 1 large cup SR Flour
  • 1 heaped dessertspoon butter
  • 1 egg
  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples
  • Sugar
  • Syrup -
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4cup sugar
  • 1T butter

Directions

  1. Rub butter into flour.
  2. Add egg and a little water to make a dough.
  3. Peel, core and halve apples. Put a teaspoon of sugar in the core.
  4. Roll pastry out thinly and cut into squares large enough to fold around the apple halve.
  5. Place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Combine syrup ingredients and bring to the boil. Pour over apple pastries.
  7. Cook in a moderate oven about 1/2h or until until apples have begun to soften and pastry is golden.
