Ingredients

  • 9 large baking potatoes
  • 3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 tsp. salt or seasoned salt
  • 2 cups half-and-half

Directions

  1. Cook the unpeeled potatoes in water to cover in a saucepan until tender; drain.
  2. Cool to room temperature and chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours or longer. Peel and grate the potatoes.
  3. Layer the potatoes and cheese 1/2 at a time in a greased baking dish. Melt the butter with the salt and half-and-half in a saucepan. Pour over layers
  4. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.
