Patty Melts with Secret Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Ground beef
  • 6 Slices rye bread
  • 1/2 tsp. Onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 Slices cheddar cheese
  • 6 Slices provolone cheese
  • 6 Tbsp. Butter, softened and unsalted
  • For the Secret Sauce:
  • 1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. Chopped bacon pieces
  • 3 Tbsp. Ketchup
  • 1 tsp. Sugar

Directions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Patty Mixture
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  4. Step 2: Cook the Patties
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the patties. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  6. Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  7. Step 3: Prepare the Secret Sauce
  8. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped bacon pieces, ketchup, sugar, and Mix until well combined. This will be your secret sauce.
  9. Step 4: Assemble the Patty Melts
  10. Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  11. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on the unbuttered side of 3 slices of bread, followed by a cooked beef patty.
  12. Spread a generous amount of secret sauce on top of each beef patty.
  13. Top each patty with a slice of provolone cheese, then cover with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  14. Step 5: Cook the Patty Melts
  15. Heat a clean skillet over medium heat and add the assembled sandwiches. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  16. Once cooked, remove the patty melts from the skillet and serve immediately.

  18. Bread Options: If you don’t have rye bread on hand, you can use any type of bread you prefer, such as sourdough or wheat bread.
  19. Cheese Variations: Feel free to mix and match different types of cheese to suit your taste preferences. Swiss cheese or American cheese are also great options for patty melts.
