Pizza Crust

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. active dry yeast
  • 2 c. warm water, divided
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in to 1 c. warm water. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add sugar, salt and 1/2 c. water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add remaining 1/2 c. water. Add egg to mixture when cooled. Add 1 1/2 c. flour to yeast mix. Beat. Add sugar water to yeast mix and add flour until it starts to pull away from the bowl. Scrape out onto well floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes or until the right consistency. Put into a greased bowl and let rise until double. Divide into four sections and roll each section out and put onto a lightly oiled pizza pan. Let rise to desired height. Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-4 min. Freeze or add sauce and toppings and bake another 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees fahrenheit.
