  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • Neutral oil
  • 1 pound frozen fish sticks, or frozen battered fillets halved lengthwise (or tofu sticks)
  • 1/4 medium sweet onion, sliced into quarter moons
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 medium jalapeño, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced scallions
  • 1/4 cup torn basil leaves, optional
