Heat the coconut oil in a frying pan on a medium to high heat and brown the beef and remove from the pan and add to the slow cooker.
Add the star anise, onion, garlic and ginger and fry for 5 more minutes before adding to the slow cooker.
Tip the mushrooms into the slow cooker too.
In a jug, combine the cinnamon, peppercorns, coriander, beef stock, cornflour, soy sauce, honey and chilli flakes then pour over everything.
Mix, cover and cook for 7/8 hours on low.
