Soak and rinse peas. Dice potatoes, jalapenos, ham, celery, carrots and onions.
In large pot, mix peas, broth, soup mix, and above diced ingredients. Mix well.
Bring to full boil, then reduce to simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Tips:
Puree mixture for smoother blend
Seasonings to consider are marjoram, salt and pepper, oregano, cilantro, Italian seasoning, garlic salt
Add powdered dry mustard or balsamic vinegar for added effect.
Pre-cook potatoes until about half done.
