Tempeh is one of my favorite plant-based proteins-- though when talking with friends, tempeh seems to be a bit more mysterious in cooking than tofu, beans, and lentils.
I often joke that once you hear what tempeh is it becomes even less appealing. fermented soybean cake doesn't exactly whet the appetite, ya know? but it's packed with protein, fiber, and iron, and delicious when prepared correctly.
Basic Preparation
Steam tempeh for 10 minutes this helps to remove bitterness. I admit I don't always do this when I'm in a rush, but I do think it makes a difference
Pat dry thoroughly
Cut into kid-friendly shapes-- I think smaller pieces are better for selective eaters I will often grate with a box grater or cut into matchsticks or small cubes.
Marinate and cook!
