Upside Down Pizza Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1 15-oz can tomato sauce with Italian sausage
  • 1/4 ups sliced pitted olives (optional)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or Italian cheese blend
  • 1 13.8 oz package refrigerated pizza dough

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a skillet cook ground beef and mushrooms over medium-high heat until meat is browned. Drain off fat. Stir in tomato sauce and if desired, olives, heat through. Transfer meat mixture to a 2 quart rectangle baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese.

Top mixture in baking dish with pizza dough, either whole or cut into rectangular pieces, sealing dough to edges of baking dish. If desired brush with milk and sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered, for 20-25 minutes or until dough is golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
