Boil 4 ounces of warm water in a pot over the stovetop or in an electric tea kettle, setting the rest aside.
After the water boils, pour it into a cup with the rest of the room temperature water.
Cut a lemon in half and squeeze it into the water.
Measure 1⁄8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and sprinkle it into the water.
Stir the water, lemon and cayenne together.
Save the other lemon half for tomorrow morning.
