Scold milk, stir in sugar, salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water into large bowl and sprinkle in yeast. Stir u til dissolved.
Add lukewarm mixture to the yeast water, beaten egg and half the flour (1 1/4 cups), beat u til smooth and then blend in remaining flour.
Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour
Stir down batter and divide into 12 greased muffin cups, filling about 2/3 full. (If making cloverleaf, divide the individual 12 dough balls into 3 parts.). Let rise in a warm place until dough rounds slightly above the tops of cups, about 1 hour. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional).
Bake at 400’ for about 15 minutes or until slightly brown. Watch closely, do not over bake the rolls.
