Making Cultured Buttermilk

Ingredients

  • 1 liter skim milk
  • 1/2 cup (250 ml) cultured buttermilk
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Directions

Mix skim milk and buttermilk
Place in a pot big enough to hold ingredients
Set on a stove burner on lowest heat setting
Measure temperature of the milk frequently to not exceed 70 F
When the temperature reaches 70 F remove buttermilk from burner
Place on a hot pad, Stir well and cover.
Leave until thickened, 12 to 24 hours
