Sweet Potato Chaat

Ingredients

  • Ingredients for Chaat:
  • • 500 gm sweet potato steamed
  • • 1/2 cup roasted cashewnut coarsely crushed
  • • 1/2 cup finely chopped coriander
  • • 1 tsp finely chopped green chili (optional)
  • • 1.5 tsp rock salt
  • • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • • 1/2- 1 tsp red chili powder
  • • 1/2 cup green chutney
  • • 1/2 cup dates tamarind chutney
  • • Few mint leaves for garnish
  • *Date and Tamarind Chutney*
  • Ingredients
  • • 2 cups dates deseeded
  • • 1/4 cup tamarind paste
  • • 1 cup water
  • • 1 tsp chili powder
  • • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • • 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • • 1 tsp rock salt

Directions

Chaat:

Take a bowl and mix sweet potatoes and all the other ingredients well.

Adjust the green chutney and date tamarind chutney according to taste.
Garnish with mint leaves and serve.

Dates and Tamarind Chutney:

Wash the dates and place in a saucepan. Add 1 cup water and cook for about 10 minutes on a low flame. Cool and put in a blender to make a paste.
Add chili powder, asafoetida, tamarind paste, roasted cumin, rock salt and blend well.

This can be stored in the fridge or freezer.
