Saute’ chopped onions in the bacon grease (also add a small dose of chopped garlic as onions soften), then add onions and grease to beans in appropriate baking vessel.
Add a healthy tablespoon of mustard, a healthy tablespoon of BBQ sauce, and a couple ounces of tomato paste to the beans. Stir until mixed.
Lay the strips of bacon on top.
Bake at 300 degrees for at least two hours. Let the bacon crisp and allow the surface of the beans to brown.
