Beef & Beer Stew with Cheese Dumplings (aka The Marriage Maker)
Ingredients
- 1kg beef, cut into 1 inch/walnut sized pieces
- 2-3 tablespoons of oil
- 3 large onions, sliced
- 150g bacon
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups beef stock
- 1x 345ml bottle of beer (I used Blue Tongue Brewery Pilsener)
- 3-4 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- For the dumplings:
- 100g self raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 50g butter melted
- 1 egg
- 50g grated cheese
