Beef Pho

Ingredients

  • onions, quartered
  • 1 (4-inch) piece of ginger, peeled
  • and halved
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 3 star anise pods
  • 6 cloves
  • 20 oucnes Flavor Chef Beef Bone
  • Broth
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 cups butternut squash zoodles
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, thinly
  • sliced across the grains

Directions

  1. Turn the broiler to high
  2. On a baking sheet, spread the
  3. quartered onions and halved
  4. ginger.
  5. Broil for 10 to 15 mins, turning occasionally so they are
  6. charred or browned on all sides.
  7. In a dry saute pan over low heat,
  8. combine the cinnamon, fennel,
  9. coriander, star anise, and cloves.
  10. Cook until fragrant, stirring
  11. occasionally, about 5 mins.
  12. Remove from the heat and wrap with the
  13. cheesecloth to make a small
  14. bundle.
  15. In a medium saucepan over
  16. medium heat. warm the broth with
  17. the onion and ginger mixture and
  18. the toasted aromatics.
  19. Add the fish sauce and bring to a gentle boil, the reduce the heat to low.
  20. Simmer for 30 mins.
  21. Remove the seasonings.
  22. Add the zoodles and steak.
  23. Cook for 5 mins.
  24. Serve topped with all or just your
  25. favorite toppings.
