BEEF STROGANOFF

Ingredients

  • 750g Steak cut into strips
  • 125g butter
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 500g mushrooms sliced
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 beef stock cubes
  • 300ml carton sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour (mix into sour cream)

Directions

  1. Melt half butter.
  2. Add meat in small batches and cook quickly until golden brown, removing meat from pan immediately and keep aside
  3. Add remaining butter to pan
  4. Sauté onion & mushrooms until tender
  5. Return meat to pan with water, stock cubes and tomato paste
  6. Bring to boil, covered, for 5 minutes
  7. Pour in sour cream & cornflour
  8. Stir until mixture thickens
  9. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered 5 minutes
  10. If not thick enough add a little more cornflour mixed with water
  11. If u would like more sauce, add a little water
