Bread & Roll

Ingredients

  • 4 tbs Yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm Water
  • 1 qt Milk scald
  • 1 cup shortrning
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 Eggs well beaten
  • 5 cups Flour, Can mix White and Wheat. Mom used 1 cup of wheat 4 cups White
  • 2 tbs Salt

Directions

  1. Dissolve Yeast and Warm Water
  2. Scald milk then add shortening & Sugar
  3. Add Yeast
  4. Add Eggs
  5. Mix in about 5 cups of flour
  6. Let rise 1 hour
  7. Mix down add flour as needed 1 to 2 cups
  8. let rise 1 hour
  9. Knead down then let double in size
  10. Knead down and Divide into 4 qual loaves
  11. Let rise about 20 min or until doubled
  12. Bake at 375 for 35 min
  13. Glass pans 350
  14. Rolls 20-25 min
  15. For Rolls dip in melted butter and fold in half
  16. For cinnamon rolls roll out flat spread melted butter then sprinkle sugar and cinnamon.
  17. Roll then cut into rolls.
