Bublanina Cherry Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • pitted fresh cherries or canned cherries (well drained)

Directions

  1. Beat egg yolks until lemon colored. Mix butter, sugar, egg yolks until fluffy. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to egg mixture.
  2. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into egg mixture. Pour into greased 12X8 or 10X10 pan. Sprinkle cherries on top of it. Sprinkle top of cake with 1/2 cup sugar.
  3. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
