Chinese Marinade for Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken (wings, chops, thighs, wingets/drumetts, preferably with skin on)
  • Marinade
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons shaohsing wine (can substitute with dry sherry)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
  • 2 teaspoons chilli sauce

Directions

  1. Marinate chicken for at least one hour, overnight is preferable.
  2. If the chicken is cooked in the oven, cook at 180°C for 45 minutes – 1 hours, depending on the cut/size of the chicken. Alternatively you can cook the chicken on the BBQ.
