Ingredients

  • 1/3 cups chopped onions
  • 5 TBSP butter
  • 5 TBSP flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 5 cups milk
  • 6 cups thinly sliced potatoes

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a large sauce pan, saute onions in the butter until tender.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until blended.
  4. Gradually add milk and bring to a boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes until thickened.
  5. Place half of the potatoes in a greased 3 quart baking dish.
  6. Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes.
  7. Repeat the layers.
  8. Bake uncovered for 60-70 minutes.
