Pinto Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dry pinto beans
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 tbs. chili powder
  • 1 tbs. garlic powder
  • 1 tbs. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 6 oz. beef link sausage, sliced
  • 4-6 pieces bacon, cooked and chopped

Directions

  1. Rinse and drain pinto beans. Add 8 cups of water to Dutch oven. Add all ingredients except sausage and bacon. Cover and let sit overnight.
  2. The next morning, bring the beans to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 3-4 hours. Add sausage and cooked bacon. Simmer up to 1 hour more until beans are soft.
