Savory Bacon twists

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar fine grated
  • 1lb center cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary minced
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven 375
  2. Line baking sheet w parchment or foil and put wire rack on top (non stick spray)
  3. Open puff pastry with short end facing you
  4. Press out seams with rolling pin
  5. Lightly brush with egg.
  6. Sprinkle with cayenne, salt and pepper
  7. Cover lower half even with all cheese
  8. Fold other side over cheese
  9. Dust rolling pin with flour and roll out pastry to mix in cheese
  10. Cut into 1/2 in strips
  11. Lay bacon on strip and twist; press ends
  12. Mix together salt, pepper, rosemary and brown sugar and put on plate
  13. Roll twists in mix and place on rack
  14. Bake 30-45 min. Watch to prevent bacon burn
