Grandma Oma's Pickled Okra

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh okra
  • 3 dried red chile peppers(flakes work well)
  • 3 tsp dried dill( also can use some fresh dill)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons pickling salt
  • Garlic Cloves

Directions

  1. 1. Divide the fresh okra evenly between 3 sterile(1 pint) jars.
  2. Place dried chile flakes, one tsp dill, and one clove of garlic into each jar.
  3. 2. in small saucepan, combine the water, vinegar , and salt. Bring to rolling boil. Pour over the ingredients in the Jars, and seal in a hot water bath for 10 min. Refrigerate jars after opening.
  4. takes about 2weeks or so before ready to eat.
