Ingredients

  • Besan (gram flour) – ½ cup
  • Salt – to taste
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
  • Asafetida (Hing) – a pinch
  • Ginger paste or freshly crushed or grated – ½ teaspoon
  • Sour Yogurt (dahi) – ½ cup
  • Lemon juice – ½ teaspoon, optional
  • Water – ¾ cup
  • *if you have leftover chaas, then add 1 ¼ cup of it and skip yogurt and water.
  • Oil – 1 ½ tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Green chilies – 2, chopped finely
  • Curry leaves – 10
  • Desiccated coconut or fresh coconut– 1 tablespoon
  • Cilantro or coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon, chopped finely
