Ingredients

  • ☆ 2 cups cooked whole grain red rice (or any variety of whole grain rice that you like)
  • ☆ 3-4 tbsp water
  • ☆ ½ cup freshly grated coconut
  • ☆ 1 cup date paste (soak 1 cup dates in 1/2 cup of water for about an hour and blend into a paste)
  • ☆ ½ tsp cardamom powder (optional)
  • ☆ 2-3 tbsp soaked, peeled, slivered almonds for garnishing

Directions

  1. 1.In a blender, blend all the ingredients together (except the almonds for garnishing) to form a nice batter. You may need to add 2-3 tbsp of water if your blender doesn’t blend
  2. 2.Heat a thick bottomed stainless steel kadhai/ pan.
  3. 3.Pour this mixture into the kadhai and heat well stirring continuously till all the water evaporates and it becomes a thick mass.
  4. 4) The halwa is ready.
  5. 5) Garnish with slivered almonds and serve hot and enjoy😊
