Lemon-Miso Tofu With Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients

  • For The Lemon-Miso Sauce:
  • ¾ cup just-boiled water
  • 2 tablespoons white (shiro) miso paste 
  • ¼ cup lemon juice (from 1 to 2 lemons)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch 
  • ½ teaspoon salt 
  • 2 teaspoons roasted sesame oil 
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely grated or a dash of garlic powder
  • 1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
  • For The Tofu And Broccoli:
  • ⅓ cup cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 (14- to 16-ounce) package extra-firm tofu, drained, patted dry and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Canola or vegetable oil 
  • 1 pound broccoli (about 2 small heads), cut into small florets 
  • 2 scallions, trimmed and thinly chopped
  • Cooked rice, to serve
