  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper, or more to taste
  • 1 14-ounce package extra-firm water-packed tofu, drained
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, optional
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil, divided
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder ( or use fresh, minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger(or use fresh, minced)
  • 6 cups broccoli florets or other veggies- chard and corn work well
  • 3 tablespoons water
