Chili Beef With Basil

Ingredients

  • 6TBS groundnut oil
  • 16–20 large fresh basil leaves
  • 😳 marinade (<30 minutes)
  • 10 0Z rump steak
  • 2 TBSP Thai fish sauce (<30 min)
  • ☀️1 TSP brown sugar
  • 1-2 fresh red chile sliced into rings
  • 2 TSP fresh ginger (chopped)
  • 1 Shallot (Thinly sliced)
  • 2 TBSP fresh basil (3chopped finely)
  • Fresh lemon squeezed
  • Salt/black pepper to taste
  • 👍Jasmine rice

Directions

  1. 👍 Cut beef into strips (across grain)
  2. ✌️ bag-add 2tbsp Fish sauce
  3. (30 minutes 🕖)
  4. ☀️ wok
  5. Heat oil (hot) 6 tbsp
  6. Add fresh basil leaves (1 minute) Crisp/golden– Drain on paper towel
  7. ☀️wok
  8. Pour off all but 2 tbsp oil
  9. Reduce heat
  10. Add 1–2 chilies
  11. 1 TSP ginger
  12. 3 cloves garlic
  13. 1 shallot (sliced thinly)
  14. (30 seconds)
  15. ☀️ add beef
  16. Chopped basil
  17. Flavor with lemon
  18. Pepper/salt to taste
  19. Transfer to warm plate garnish basil leaves serve immediately over rice
