Okra And Beef Stew (bemee)

Ingredients

  • 16 oz frozen or fresh okra
  • 8 ounces cubed beef for stew
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425
  2. Sauté onion in olive oil over medium heat until translucent
  3. Mash the cilantro and garlic together
  4. Add meat to onions and add cinnamon salt and pepper. Mix.
  5. Add cilantro and garlic mixture
  6. Let the meat brown
  7. Line okra on baking sheet and roast in oven plain for 15 minutes
  8. Add 2 cups of water to pot and let stew for about 20 minutes
  9. Add diced tomatoes and let stew for 10 minutes
  10. Remove okra and add to the stew
  11. Let simmer for 15 minutes
  12. Serve over jasmine rice
