Stuffed Green Peppers

Ingredients

  • Stuffed Peppers / Fleyfli Mihshe
  • 6 green peppers, tops removed and hollowed
  • 1 lb. beef, ground
  • 1 cup long grain rice, washed and well drained
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. pepper
  • ½ tsp. allspice
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 48 oz. can tomato juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. dried mint, crushed

Directions

  1. 1. Combine meat, rice, salt, pepper, allspice and butter.
  2. 2. Stuff green peppers with meat filling to 1/2” from top of shell, allowing for expansion of rice.
  3. 3. Place in a single layer in a baking tray. Cover with tomato juice, water, and sprinkle with garlic and mint.
  4. 4. Cover loosely with foil and bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.
